Sunglass Rx and otherwise- The best.

    Hello Optiboarders,

Which brands according to you would surface as the best in terms of UV, polarization. build, overall quality and value for Plano and Rx respectively.

The sunglass market especially in terms of Rx is something that I want to experiment with. All your view are very valuable.

Maui Jim are the best value without prescription, in my experience. With prescription they are very good but not as good (build quality wise - in general).

Nothing is comparable to NuPolar lenses by Younger. Everything else is second best.

I'm interested why technically speaking NuPolar would be the best? For what it's worth I wear NuPolar as I have Drivewear lenses, which I find incredibly good. I thought the OP was asking about sunglass packages.

Nupolar is consistent. The polarized axis is aligned to the tightest specs, their film never delaminates, and the film is placed so accurate to the front surface that I never worry about bevel placement causing a white ring effect.

I like Nupolar, too. I wish Drivewear were available in Trivex. Because it isn't, I sometimes order NXT in Varia Brown or Gray.

I like buying Nupolar, in part, because it benefits Younger Optics.

    1. Younger is the ONLY manufacturer that produces its own polarization film. All the other lens manufacturers buy their film from the same sources in China and Japan. These sources make their film for several other type of industries. We make our film specifically for the optical industry.

    2. We place our film the closest to the surface which means you can get the best CT and ET.

    3. We use a special chemical that bonds the film to the lens so that it will never delaminate.

    4. We also use a special thermo-curing process that prevents color shifting when the lenses are subjected to high heat(ie AR, mirror, hard coating). This means you can order that half pair and not worry that the colors won't match.

    5. True grey and brown.

Without doubt, MJ is relatively a new brand to India and I must say they have captured a large share in the market. Actually the sun glass market is still at its nascent stages, so I am guessing they got the beginners advantage.

Serengetti is something that had me get this thread up. I was in discussion for another brand of theirs called Bolle, yet I must say I was happy with their greedy attitude and I stopped there. I visited their stall at Mido too, and their styles are right, yet their operational style and greed has me thinking.

The lenses are good, their distributor is not.
