Had a woman call this AM wanting her PD because her sister-in-law works for: "the very large optical lab that does lenses for all the practices in the area including yours"
Explained that the person from whom they are receiving the glasses is responsible for taking the measurements and assuring their accuracy. After listening to several minutes of abuse from her, she mentioned that we should be willing to help her because she has been a long time pt. of Dr. "X".
I then had the pleasure of telling her that Dr. "X" has never been associated with our practice. He worked at the practice 3 blocks away.
"That's who I called!"
"No dear, you called me. Would you like the phone number for Dr. X's office?"
Click.
Five hours later, it occurs to me that I should have offered to call the lab, ask for a supervisor, and give him the PD. You can bet the lab has no idea sister-in-law is processing glasses for her family members. As grandfather used to say, "I can smile. (pause) And I can murder while I smile."
