    Trouble Shooting Progressive

    Hello

Patient has progressives. He says when the glasses are put down on the nose instead of wearing it on the bridge of the nose the distance is more clear.

Also he says he needs to tilt his head down and look in the distance to see clear.

Is this a issue of height?? if so is the height too high or too low

    Could be issues of:
    Height
    Add (change)
    Dv rx change
    Posture
    Corridor length

Or all parts of the above

    Hello

It can possibly be posture, he's only having trouble when he's driving. When he's walking, standing or sitting it's fine.

If it's height, do you think it's fitted too high or too low???

Is his driving posture chin-up compared to sitting at his desk? If so, that would make it high; but lowering it might make it too low for regular reading. Drop it a little, not a lot, for the best tradeoff.

Remark the lenses first and put them on the patient and try to have them assume their normal head position. be sure to be eye level with them to eliminate paralax. once the patient has assumed their natural head position, then look to see if the fitting cross is where it should be. this will eliminate the obvious if it is fit in correct position.

Mrmessi, from this and other questions you've asked, I gather that you haven't had much training; these are pretty basic questions. No surprise, training isn't thought of as it once was. Do yourself a favor, get to New York or Vegas for a VisionExpo, where a class in basic adjustment procedures will be available. If your office uses a buying group, they may offer a class (PEN has good ones). Rather than address these questions one-by-one as they arise, get a broad view of the whole subject.

The solution to this issue might be as simple as re-adjusting the car seat for less of a recline position, this is a common problem with adjustable tilt/power adjust seats in today's vehicles.

All questions are good, Mrmessi......that is how we learn!

To all others......See One, Do one, Teach One, a very good creed, no???
