    high myope again

i just noticed i have a high myope coming in a few days and trying to prepare i've called my lab, but i'm guessing they're busy because they haven't called me back.
pt is a OD -21.00-0.50X175 OS-23.00-1.25x135, he's got a 65pd, so he's not a small guy, but luckily i'll just need a sv lens. hopefully this year i can get him into something smaller than a 50 eye.
my coworker claims she was told we can't get a myodisc anymore. 2 years ago we did do a double concave lens. and from what i've heard there are no freeform lenses out in that prescription yet.
i'll aim for a 1.67 sv asph, but my question is, is there nothing better out there in the world? well, in the u.s.? what have you guys found success with at this degree of nearsightedness?

i guess lucky me, i don't see this often enough.

Why can't you get myodisc's? That sounds wrong. Either that, or you need a new lab.

You may find this thread interesting. I think AWTECH once posted a picture of an aphakic lens ground as a hi minus.

    1.67 Blended myodisc!
You probably would need some minus on the front!

It shouldn't be a problem to get, but it will be expensive.

Very easy to make in either glass or plastic. You may want to find someone smart enough to lenticularize it.

    1.7 blended from IceTech. Non-bi-concave.

A blended wouldn't be hard to make either, and smart lab tech could do that for you

If you keep the lens size small, you won't need it to be lenticular. I know you said the the client isn't small, but if you could come with something along the lines of a 40-25 round frame with wide endpieces and adjustable nosepads, you would have a better cosmetic result.

I like the Safilo Team 4119 for this type of job. You usually need to bevel the nasal a little to accommodate the pad arms.

I would suggest Epic, or IceTech either one. Worth the phone calls at the least.

Right is -25, plano base, 1.74 by Epic. Frame is 40-25.

Those Lanvin frames are great for those types of jobs.

Yeah, and they looked half way decent too. I sold the last one about a year ago. Hard to find that eyesize with the wide dbl, very good quality, and a sell price under $300, from a reasonably big name frame company. Are you having any luck? If I find one I'll post it.

How about doing 1.9 in glass from Zeiss? Just make sure they sign a glass waiver form. Otherwise 1.74 index from Essilor.

Or 1.74 from any vendor who can supply it?

Sure any supplier works, but you also should consider who offers the best coatings. The lenses/glasses will not be cheap as it is and your client should have premium coatings that are going to last. Personally I like the premium coatings Essilor offers.

More Koolaid Judy. That will calm your bashing tendencies, ha ha.

Rosalie, there are many great lens manufactures, and coatings out there, spread your wings, I would not disagree that Essilor offers premium coatings, but there are many out there!!

I would have to say, IceTech.
