i had a patient come in today asking for these and i had never heard of or seen them. she suffers from neurotrophic keratitis and apparently it has and effect on tear production. any help on were to find these would be awesome. all i have on hand are liberty sport frames but i am looking for something a little more appealing.

You build them yourself. look up Eagle optics they have the skirts you will need. If your not comfortable making it, Ask you lab if they can make it for you. you will need to do some final trimming but its not at all difficult. As another optian look up 7eye eyewear. they make ready made frames that have a silicone chamber that attached with magnets.

OMG! I have not done a moisture chamber in over 20 years....but they are not too hard to do. Also, Wiley-X has a frame that includes a sealed chamber to keep out wind etc. that works, but may not be cosmetically compatible for some wearers. Also try the dryeyeshop.com - they have several Rx'able styles, and that includes the Zienna Oasis, which is a pretty nice style for women. Good luck! Things like this, and ptosis crutches, have become a lost art!

Here's what a quick search of "moisture chamber" on the boards search function brought up.

Note the bottom of the page has related threads.

Most reading this probably have never even heard of a moisture chamber, much less a ptosis crutch; brings back old memories.

When the opthalmo plastic surgeon checked me out for my ptosis last November, he said that we could do it. I mentioned that I would not really appreciate walking around with a ptosis crutch and he ansered and said that in the Montreal area and surroundings they had only one optician that could make them and that he passed away recently and there is nobody anymore that can do them.

When he learned that I have made qiute a few of them he said I should start doing them again and only himself could have me doing about 15 a year. I declined, but for somebody else being the only one in a 4 million people area it could be some good business.
