We are seriously considering an AIT edger for our new shop. We have meetings with Santinelli and Essilor as well.

I am all about an edger that does so much with little effort. I may be certified, but my strength has NEVER been lab work.

So far, I like Santinelli's offer to let us try before we buy.

This machine does look super nice and capable.

Contact AIT, they may be able to do the same type of deal.

I saw at the Opti Munich a couple of weeks ago. Seems terrific. It has a WECO label, and certainly seems to do what other top-shelf machines do, such as Nidek's, with the temporary exception of a real step bevel, though I think that is going to be added shortly. I believe the pricing is lower than the Nidek, I am considering this machine seriously to replace our KAPPA.

The ME1200 is the most expensive and the best value at the end of the day; you do need to get the trivex wheel for it to ensure it performs as well as possible. I own a beta version for the past 9 months and just ordered the 8 base tracer to be delivered next week.
The machine has no issues other than putting out perfect work and allowing the shelf bevel and drill capability to exceed expectations.
The new tracer will make my work and machine even better.

You can call my office and speak to Gary- he runs it- and he can go over the machine if you desire. He is at 239-482-8763.
Best of luck in the buying process.

If I were in a position to purchase a high end edger, I would seriously look at the Optek too. It does everything that the MEI, Santinelli and others do, plus it is a bit less expensive.

Looks rather nice for a lab, I am not sure about a retail location. How much is it?

What ever happened to the Nidek/Santinelli Xtrimer SE-1 edger?? Santinelli was blowing about it and now nothing is being heard. It would have been along the lines of the Optek, MEI, Schneider, LOH, etc.

I saw it at West and I think it is being released at East this year. It is simiiar to the MEI but the software is much easier to use. They also use a wheel and not a blade to shelf bevel, so it is a smoother finish.
The industry has finally caught up to the MEI and it only took how many years? 8+ This is what happened when you are outside the industry and design from scratch and not an improved version of old technology or thinking.
I applaud how they have lead the industry and not followed anyone.

I'll be watching I can't get to VEE, but will be watching the press releases from there.

I like the way MEI does it too, Why don't they make surfacing equipment??

I love the AIT Weco Machines for their value. Although Santinelli makes a great box, the 1200 with all the bells and whistles is very very expensive. The Weco's do 90% of what the Nideks do, but for much less $. They are also faster.

The desire to be able to produce work at the 100% level is exactly why I would only buy another Me1200. I just ordered the new 8 base tracer for the reason. I am at 90% now and feel the work we deliver deserves 100%. That maybe why we are 100% luxury.

Consider SERVICE as a important factor when making your decision. You buy because you need the equipment. When it breaks, you need a fast response too. I learned this the hard way. I have to replace a relatively new AIT edger because of that.

What would you pair the ME1200 with to increase the production flow? Needs to drill also. Does anybody has the set up?
