One of my patients said a Lenscrafter optician told him they were using a new quality progressive. Who knows what this lens is ? Can they use lenses like Individual 2 and the like ?
Can this be moved to general forum ?

I know a manager at Lenscrafters. I asked him the same question and he had no idea. True story.
Lenscrafters will use different lenses, at different times, depending on what pricing they can muscle. The will not use top tier lenses like the Individual 2 simply because they would have to charge the pt $2000 to get the same margins they do on their generic ones. Their key is to bring a product with very low cost, slap a fancy name and fancy marketing on it, and sell it like as if it was a premium lens or product.
In the past, I've seen the Auto 2 Variable in poly (imho the worst combination with this lens), but I recall seeing a lens marked "lux" recently.
Our newest lens is our HD lens. Not really new any more but it is labeled "LC". They are digital lenses available in both 1.60 and 1.67. I believe they are an in house lens design but could also be a rebranded lens. Our other lenses are based on a tiered system. The MVP which isn't a single lens but rather a group of lenses that fit the description. These lenses are narrower than our AVPs which follow the same ideology. If they are made in house they will have the PAL identifier. We use Essilor products. If they are made outside the store the will be digitally surfaced and will have "lux". Hope this helps.

Our new hire if from LC. (Maryland)
He said Essilor Smallfit (as their shorty)
Essilor Accolade and Ovation as their workhorse
he did not know the licensing or "style" of their top notch offering house design.
Patients that asked for Varilux lenses received Comfort
When I was there in 2009: MVC Standard PAL was the Natural. Short fit was the Essilor Smallfit. MVP was the Ovation or Illumina (in polarized). AVP was the Accolade. They introduced their HD lens well after I quit, so I can't answer to that.
Originally the HD lens was a Shamir Element, with the 19 / 16 seg choices. Right before I left the company they took the shamir insignia off and switched it to Lux, but the white paper on the lenses seemed the same - though it could have been a switch to an in house backside PAL with very similar stats.
I haven't heard they are using a true variable corridor from anyone I know who still works in the labs. Its still the same ol 16 / 19 lens. Though I may be wrong. This was as of 4 months ago when I was talking to an old buddy.
I had a patient that only needed one lens. The original lenses were a lenscrafters digital, marked LC. Lenscrafters would not make 1 lens only, so she came to us. Our lab was able to match it with their in house digital and the patient had no problems. She has since returned to us for additional pairs.
