    Seriously?

I don't think it's a full moon yet. I just had a guy follow me back into my work area insisting on explaining to me how to adjust his glasses.
Are you kidding me? Why do patients think they can just violate our personal area? No one goes into a kitchen in a restaurant and tells the chef how to make their food.

    I need a new career!!!!!

    And end rant.

That happens to me all the time! The patient often gets this coy, know-it-all look on their face as they walk in to the lab and say, "So, you gonna use those salt beads?" And I'm thinking- Yes I'm going to put your frame in the 'salt beads' to change your nose pads. Wow, your knowledge of my profession is mind blowing.
Patient, ".. Doctor says I have a subscription for stigmata.. Can you fill that?"
    Me, "..Um.. "

At least he didn't bring a micrometer and show you how much you needed to adjust.

Had someone in who's experiencing problems relating to a little too much faceform. Told him what I had to do. Wont let me touch frames. I guess that's that then.

Annie- I love your restaurant analogy!!

Full moon crossed my mind yesterday.
A lady came in for her husband and she forgot to bring me his eyeglasses.
    She actually said to me....
"Just give me the new eyeglass lenses that you ordered and maybe my husband can take his old lenses out and put the new ones in"

I had a man back me into a corner one day. I realized it was on purpose when he said, "Am I intimidating you?" (What in the world?!?) I laughed and said, "No I know you're not TRYING to be rude, but legally you can't be back here with other patient's charts and things lying around."
Ever since then I've made a point to say something like "you stay here and I will be right back" when I go around the workbench.

An elderly couple came in this week (I would swear it was a full moon all week if I didn't know better) and the wife hadn't been able to see out of her glasses for quite some time specifically she couldn't read well. They were progressive lenses and one look at the lenses told me what the problem was. So I asked "Did the lenses fall out and someone put them back in?" The husband proudly declared that he had a "little screwdriver set" and he had indeed fixed them for her. I said "Well I don't know how long ago that was but but she's been looking through one of them upside down". Poor thing had a little dementia so couldn't really figure it out herself.

Had a guy bring in his new pair that I sold him the week before to tell me that it was 3 grams heavier than his old pair and that the added weight was bothering him. I then asked him what kind of engineer he was.

    Electrical....

Yeah i have a few "Priviliged patients" who think just because they know the owner or have been patients for a long time they are entitled to coming into the lab area. I got sick of it one day because no-one says anything to them and when they come back through the door i look at them and say Unfortunately i cant have you back here as its a violation of Hipaa Law and i wouldn't want you or i to get sued. That usually keeps them at bay. I did have one complain to the Dr./owner that i was being rude and i explained to him whats rude is assuming you can do w.e you want in someone elses place of business what i did was save your *** from a lawsuit....He told me to keep up the good work lol.

Those of you who attended the FezzJohns UnExpo in Virginia and/or South Carolina have me fellow Optiboarder Eyegrass. He is my closest competition at one of my offices, and a really good friend of mine.

I have NEVER been to his office (and I stop by often) where there are not at least 4-5 people (customers, reps, friends, whomever...) standing around back in his lab. A box of donuts, a coffee machine, and a bunch of people sitting on the lab counters or some of the rolling office chairs. It never phases him, and he artfully weaves in and out of the crowd, answering the phone, edging lenses, and occasionally going to the front of the office to take care of patients.

It would drive me NUTS, but I don't think he'd have it any other way.

Well if this guy had been bossy AND brought me donuts, then he could have instructed me all the live long day.
