Sorry guys...this is not another drinking thread!
I was wondering if anyone is, or has been a member of Toastmasters?
A friend of mine was telling me about it, and she said she really enjoys it. Comments?

Ophthalmic Optician, Society to Advance Opticianry
I heard Valerie Manso (some big shot optical lecturer) speak about her experience with it and it almost motivated me to look into it.
I think that I would really benefit by it. I have a terrible time around people, I am socially awkward, and am very introverted. My wife says that I come off as rude and arrogant most times. I am really not, it is my social anxiety at work! I should look into it.
I wouldn't join any club that would let me be a member!
My daughter, the lawyer, is a member and she loves it. But then, she's very out-going and quite the extrovert. The thought of it makes me queasy.
Try reading "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking". Excellent!
Here's their response;
Dear Mr. 7;
We understand that you may be a master at making toast as your note to us implies. Your description of the proper technique for buttering is in fact very interesting fodder to read, but we are afraid you still do not get the gist of what we are all about. I'm sorry to inform you that your personal ban from joining is still in effect.
On second thought, I don't want to be a Toastmaster!

Great for sharpening speaking skills. Often times you can learn tricks and tips from speakers in other fields and even hear good jokes to open and or close with.
