Any solution for old yellow cr-39 stock finish or semi-finsih :(

    Hi every body

i think now its time think about the solution of old stock of cr-39 finnsih or semi-finnish lenses,

i have done so many expairmetns tinting, sun bleaching , but after hard coating or hmc the get more yellow. :(

we have discussed alots topics of diffrent issues and we got the best answers but still unfortunatly there is no comfortable solution for cr yellow lenses yet.

    Brilliant!

    That gives me an idea!

How about selling them to the local optometry school!*

They can make up spectacles for the students to demonstrate how a patient with cataracts sees the world!

*I may want to buy these! I have an optometry school about an hour away from me! I bet that I could sucker them into buying them at super inflated prices!

Tint them all different colors and use them for Christmas ornaments! ( I had quite a few at one time.)

    Optiboard Brainstorming Central!

You could always edge them down into various fish like shapes, add some treble hooks and sell them as fishing lures to all of the Bubbas!

    Here you go:http://shop.gunnars.com/holiday.html

And to think I actually carry these in two of my offices! It's always nice to see my vendors trying their hand at the 'ol retail game!

Farhan, let me know when they turn to the color of the Gunnar lenses, and I'll take a few dozen!

Most CR 39 lenses exhibit a certain amount of yellowness referred to as YI or yellowness index, as well warehouse yellowing is noted, as is UV and thermal ageing. Bluing agents will help to mask this . Higher temperature AR and scratch coating processes will aggravate the yellowness.

The best source of information on this subject would be PPG Industries.
