What do you use for tags?

Hello all, this is my first thread here so be gentle ;)
the practice that i have recently started working for is having issues with their frame pricing in the aspect of what type of pricing system would allow them to easily change prices on individual frames as wholesale costs change but without writing it on the tag/sticker. we have bounced around the thought of using 2 tags. one with frame info and bar-code, the other tag would have the price. price changes, swap the second tag. some believe this would look too tacky. we are currently using the arch crown tags, style no. 830. these are just large enough to paste the tags/bar-codes provided by frame wholesalers with their frames. we have considered using sticker type tags much like LC's tags but that would not really for for the size of our practive vs. cost of startup with that type of system (labels, label printers, proprietary software, etc.) we also have ruled out completely eliminating tags as this would cause our type of clientele to be like " how much is this one? what about this one? and this one? how about this one?"
any suggestions? any help is appreciated, thanks

Hi Huffam! Well, you sound quite a bit more updated than we are, we still write the price with a sharpie on the inside corner of the demo lens! Welcome!

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."

Using the sticker tags supplied by frame mfgs. opens your office up to "showrooming." The bar codes on the tags can be read by smart phone apps for comparison shopping and Internet purchases. Frankly, as low-tech as it is, putting the price on the demo lens, as Shannon does, isn't a bad idea. The price can easily be changed with a swipe of alcohol. If you are in a large office with a big inventory, the marker method may make inventory control problematic if you are using the mfg.'s tags for that purpose.... but there are other ways to get around that. BTW - I enjoyed a few days on Homer Spit last summer! Fun!

Hi Huffam - I have been looking at 2D bar-codes for quite some time, but they are expensive. They are small, and can hold a lot of info. I want an wireless system, which makes them quite a bit more expensive, and then you have to round up a 2D printer which adds to the cost. This system would allow us to maintain the tight real-time inventory control we currently have, allow tons of info to be placed on the tag, and make the tag small enough that it won't get in the way when trying the frames on. Another small dot would serve as the price tag - it would be legible by anyone. Cost has been the major obstacle in completing this one of 100's of things on the to do list.

I know you have already mentioned that the "no price tag" is out of the question..... I would urge you to consider this. It will be the easiest way to change prices. Yeah, my pt's ask that question, "How much is this one" and you know what?? It has done wonders for my memory!!! The office I am in now is the first office that has gone "tagless", as hesitant as I was at first... I will always do this from here on out!!!
