    Swiss Flex and VSP

i have a patient who wants a swissflex frame, but she has VSP, i don't believe they're contracted with Lab Italee. anyone out there know a place that can do these mountings? its a long shot i think because they have all of the pieces there, but you never know!!

My experience with VSP/Italee was that we had to order lenses only from the VSP lab (entering the lens and frame purchase on Eyefinity, but getting Lenses Only from the lab) and then sending the whole works on to Italee.

The problem with this, however, was that almost without fail, we would get the lenses and inspect them and they were perfect, and then after a day or so at Italee, they would call us and tell us the lenses were scratched. So they would return them, we would send them back to the lab and order new ones and on it went. Sometimes it went through with only one remake, but often times it was three, four or more times. Of course, this meant we were losing money on the lenses from the VSP lab and the patient was frustrated because it would easily take a month or more to get the glasses for them.

I don't think we ever had a case where it all went through 100% the first time around. Now when it wasn't a VSP and we could get the lenses from Italee, there were absolutely no problems. But outside lenses? It can be done, but it is a NIGHTMARE.

    Good luck!

i find that italee is a nightmare to deal with anyway. i'm trying hard to push her in another direction but i don't think it will happen!! she said she's very patient though so that's probably a good thing. thanks so much for your help!!

You're welcome!! I always found Italee a nightmare too, until we gave up with our non-VSP orders and just contracted them to do the lenses at Italee. After that, they were great! Except for VSP. And I get that they have some interesting styles unavailable elsewhere that some people are just absolutely sold on. Maybe this is a chance for her to find out how patient she REALLY is! Again, you're welcome, and good luck!
