For those of you who had patients wearing the Izon lenses what lens are you replacing it with?

I've been using the Unity PLxtra lenses. I've had a great response from patients. I include p/w/v measurements with each order. In addition, based on the seg and needs of the patient, you can select a layout based on how much reading/intermediate they need. I've also tried both Izon ML SV & Unity SVxtra, and liked the unity lenses better. Hope that helps!
I recommend fitting any lens based on lifestyle, there is no one best lens for everyone, and their never will be.
Wide Distance: for patients who drive a lot, sports fans, atheletics, boating...
=Shamir Spectrum, Individual 2, Stealth Pro HD, Seiko Succeed II, Shamir Auto II.
Wider Reading:= Hoya IDs, Definity, Seiko Supercede, Stealth Pro SD, Seiko Surmount WS
Wide Intermediate: =Seiko Surmount (about 6-7x wider than an Auto II), Hoya ID, Definity
Hyperopes: = Seiko Surmount
High Myopes: =Seiko Supercede
Heavy Laptop/ Cel phone use: = Zeiss GT2-3D, Shamir InTouch
High RXs:= Ice-Tech
I have personally tried 47 pairs of progressives in the same RX. Personally, I wear the Seiko Surmount more than any other. Plus we invented lens mapping of Free-form last year. In test: Varilux S series, will report soon.
Good stuff Sharpstick!
Thanks for posting that!
Oddly enough, none of the options presented so far have anything to do with wavefront-guided corrections, the primary product positioning of iZon lenses. For those of you who had patients wearing the Izon lenses what lens are you replacing it with?

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that you could get Unity and Shamir before Ophthonix went out of business last week...Exactly... and we both feel the same away about that

Good question. High Myopes want the Add power to come up sooner. The higher minus powers mask a little bit of the add power to some degree creating the perception that they have to go lower to get the add power they need, due to accomodation and the base down prism in the add power (the effect of a high minus) dropping the perceived add in the virtual lens. The add power to high myope will seem lower than it actually is.
The Supercede corridor starts very quickly and strongly right below the OC, and gives those high myopes the power they are hungry for. In Asia, they have a much higher rate of Myopes, and ususally an Asian designed lens will have the corridor start a little earlier. The Superecede has a lot of power, very quickly.
I still dispense the Surmount in Myopes, when the huge intermediate is needed over the faster kick of power. Its wider in the Surmount, it just doesnt come up as quickly.

I never recommended the Izon or Unity lenses to anyone. I have not been impressed with them. So I am not sure Darryl what your are asking me?
I don't think its possible to (successfully) address 3rd order abberations (without causing more problems) with any spectacle lens? I am lost on what you are trying to say (or ask).

The pair I have are not edge to edge clear unlike many FF lenses, and I end up with a slight bit of fuzziness straight on Distance, like I do with the Physio DRx which is similar. I can't say that is a bad lens, its just than in every category of use I can think of there is a better lens for less money. I have not been impressed. What is your experience? what other lenses have you worn?
I don't wear pals...yet. I've just had 100% positive feedback so far. I've fit high plus to high minus first time & previous wearers and all have been pleased. Most of my experience has been with Essilor products and some Hoya. I've had more trouble with Hoya's Instyle & Lifestyle recently. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
