That really burns me up!
I've been waiting since Friday morning (its now Tuesday morning) to get an answer from them to see if they could do a +10.00 progressive for me! I called them yesterday morning to see if they got my email and was told they did and would work it thru and get back to me! Must be a tough one, still haven't heard back from them!
I gave them the benefit of my extreme doubt (due to previous horrible experiences) and they did not fail to dissapoint.............again.
Sorry Sharpstick, I tried!

Fezz, ask for Beth.
Well, you could always call Charlie @ Luzerne.
I sent Luzerne an email yesterday (vision@luzerneoptical.com, the email on Neil's business card) and still no response!
Fezz, was this recently or a long time ago ?
Fezz, I gotta ask................... What lab are you happy with?
Well, i never consider a thread I start "mine"
I learn from everybody.

Fezz, Beth has moved to the CEO position. As such, it can be a bit hairy to get a hold of her now. My go to rep with Ice-Tech is Joanna. She rocks and always gets things done for me.
Joanna was who I was talking to. I finally heard back from her this morning. I don't think she rocks at all. It took too long to get an answer, and they can't do the job, and didn't offer alternatives. They continue to disappoint me.
I must be odd man out. I'm glad that others are having success with them. Sadly that has not been my experience.
Fezz, I have some experience working with Ice-Tech, so here is how they work.
If you have a lens, RX, frame and material combination they have not done before, it will be handled differently from regular orders. Ice-Tech in many instances makes their own blanks, and when a new combo comes through that pushes the limits, they have to go through software to write a point file for it, and even go back to rewrite the base software. The Auto II for example is all based on 20,000 existing point files, that's why they have power limits. So if its on the edge, here is how Ice-Tech handles it.
1) rewrite the code or rx base to generate a test point file. In some cases they even had to rewrite the the base LMS software in some of the high powers we sent.
2) cast a blank from scratch, based on the expected pf.
3) run a simulation lens
4) adjust the code as necessary to improve results
5) cast a new blank
6) run a second simulation
7) if the results are good, the data is saved and can be reused, and then a final lens is made.
In all, it takes time to be cutting edge. If Ice-Tech couldn't do your job it was found at one of the steps above. So far we have done a few +18.00s, -10 cyls, and -24.00s, but now they have done a -11.00 cyl and -31.00 sphere. They are still limited based on material and frame size, but they simply do things no one else has done. They have limits because even their hot-rodded and modified generators can't bite everything.
I don't have your complete order to know why your combination couldn't be done. But I bet Ice-Tech worked very hard to figure out a way and only said no after investing a lot of time and effort into the job, and only made that decision with regret. They are just that way.
Fezz, what was the job, if you don't mind me asking?
