Looking for a STAKING TOOL to install Rivets on Temples

    Hi All,

    I want to purchase a
stakingtool to install/press rivets into some Glasses projects that I work on, I really liked the Hilco one but having difficulty contacting them, I want to purchase this item as an individual not as a company and so far could not get an answer from them,

I checked websites like Amazon and Ebay but could not find a
stakingtool similar to the Hilco one there as well,

Does anyone know where I can purchase one?? preferably a website where I can buy online and ship it to my address. Please help, I never thought this would be a taunting process like this....

I have one I could part with. It would be fine for installing rivets. I don't remember what I paid for it; it's "vintage". What does the community think a fair price would be?

The last few that I sold I let go for $50 a piece.

I set the price low because I was happy to move them! They were not pretty and were well used. They were not complete sets either.

I would say $85-$100 would be more than fair!

This one looks great, I tried ordering it but they do not sell directly to the public, they only sell for retail stores,

I would also be interested in buying a used one from anyone who might be interested in selling theirs, really appreciate the info please keep posting...

Pressing the rivets with an Arbor Press will this do the installment job?? (Way easier to find and lot cheaper)

Please let me know what you guys think, looks like the same mechanism only missing the tools that comes with the Staking Set.

There is nothing more likely to ruin any frame you are making..............................or repairing.....................than the wrong tool, either operating, or using.

Why not befriend a local optician/optometrist who has a clavulus you can borrow, rent in exchange for talent, if you are strapped for cash.

You will find the right tool eventually, they are out there! Be patient. Heck, I own 4 of them(don't ask).

These tools have all the proper attachments, to produce pressure, shape, stability, angle, to do a hinge properly.........invest!

Not only are you on the right track, you are pulling out of the station, as engineer of your very own train! Good luck........practice, practice, practice, experiment, snap a few parts off(order more #7s).

You gotta take a few apart, in order to put a few together!

How do you think it was done

It was actually done for a few hundred years without a clavalus which made the process easier for the last 55 years. In the old days we just used a punch, a riveting bit, drill and a hammer. Was one of the easiest jobs in the trade and parts were available by the galore.

Yep, them was the good ol' days................when the thickness of the acetate and the hinge material was thicker, and the blow of a hammer would not instantly damage the finest manicure, or delicate desktop, or put your workplace electronics into a tailspin.
