    If I were President...

I would help the states purchase old strip malls fix them up and offer them as retail space with extremely low rent to people who wanted to open their own business and could produce a viable business plan. Any other productive, encouraging ideas on how to fix the USA?

Actually, I've always thought that cities should require that once a building is emptied, the owner should be required to either find an occupant in 1 year or tear it down and sell the land for redevelopment. I'm not sure your suggestion would be good use of taxpayer money. Extremely low rent, while a good incubator, tends to attract a lower-class tenant. Just a thought.

not necessarily, a low rent can be a great asset to a start up company that could eventually become big. As long as the landlord had an application process that would be less of an issue.

my thought: make it easier for kids to work when they're in school! I was fortunate enough to have parents who owned a business, and working there when i was younger has given me a phenomenal work ethic. then when i turned 16 dad said "you will buy a car. you can pay for it by working at the store for minimum wage until you've paid me back or find another job that pays you better, but either way i'm not toting you around anymore!" (all out of love of course haha :) I find that most kids these days need to learn that life doesnt hand you things and the value of a dollar. you think about it a lot differently when you're earning the cash money yourself i say kids like i'm not only 26 years old, that statement just made me feel like i was 80!

They would have to present a viable business plan and open a business (they could not live there). But even low caliber businesses have customers and help the money flow.

If I WERE President......I'd DO AWAY with DEBATES and all of the over-talking the morning after!!! (grin!) I'd only have "Forums for Civil Discourse" like was done four years ago, but hardly anybody heard about. It was actually very excellent, non-combative, AND you saw how each candidate felt without being in the defense. Rick Warren had a list of questions. Each candidate had an hour, the other in a sound proof booth, and they answered the exact same questions asked by the moderator. From many different topics that a President has to deal with, devised by a committee at their facility! It was so refreshing!!!

And strict time limits, with an electric shock if they go over the allotted time.

you mean y ou'd prefer this to the grade school argument that happened last night??!!

it would be better to not see anyone be on the defense or offense and just talk about the issues and how they feel about them like two normal adults. The only thing i got from last night's debate was that obama looks exhausted, romney is a bully, and romney did a good job making himself look like he supported the 47% of people he wrote off a few weeks ago, and obama tanked it haha. i'd like a third option please!!

His head is screwed on plenty tight, and he should be on the ballot in all fifty states by Nov. 4th.

    Excerpt from "Monster" by Steppenwolf

The spirit was freedom and justice
And its keepers seemed generous and kind
Its leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
Now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told

Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watchin'

The cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole world's got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner we can't pay the cost

'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watchin'

    America, where are you now
Don't you care about your sons and daughters
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

I knew you were going to say that! I almost wrote in John Kay '72, but I came to my senses and pulled the lever for McGovern.

I'm dead serious about Gary Johnson- It's hard to believe that Rick Perry outlasted Gary Johnson and Jon Huntsmen. America, where are we now?
