Me, My ME1200 and Mike @ Quest Labs

You know, really really special glasses only happen when everything comes together optimally:

    1. Client
    2. Optician
    3. Rx
    4. Frame
    5. Lab

Well, the above stars all lined up on this one:

    Rx:
    R +10.75 -1.25 x 141
    L + 9.00 Sph
    Add: +3.00

    CR-39 7 x 28 Trifocal, +8.75 base, Double Convex
Silhouette Crystals Rimless - Custom Shape (from a Casanova frame)
    Lt Brown 10% tint
    No AR

    Glasses ordered Sat, 9/22
    Glasses delivered Mon, 10/1

See Pics attached. Yes, lenses featured blended lenticular bowl.

Not quite sure I see the usefulness of a 10% tint in a "disappear" design, and no AR. Great looking pair though, nice job!

    The light tint:
    Makes edges blend with skin
    Hides seg lines
    Covers things the magnifications reveals

Barry, you're comfortable with CR in a (hard) compression mounting? I've experimented with such and breathing on them caused failure. You're a braver man than I am Gunga Din.

They really turned out beautifully...now we pray that she is just a very careful person with her glasses. Bravo!

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."

PS -she was a client of my dad. She's been coming for 50 years!

Barry...................... an absolutely beautiful and superb job, like we used to see and make in the old days with less sophisticated equipment.

No wonder that the client has been faithful from father to son for over 50 years, I just love to see a masterfull job in a lenticular, without the progressive lenses, a cruxite type tint and all done in CR39 without an AR.

Anybody, able to supply products like that made to measure, will never have to worry to loose their customers to the internet sellers that do not have the hands on facility and practice. and rely mainly on heavily advertised goodies they can sell cheaper.

I now what it means to have made a well done job.....................congratulations Barry.

Thanks, Chris. But as I mentioned at the top, I think everything has to come together to make these happen.

Fezz - a confession: I has originally spec'd +10 base, but that lens was not available for the target timeframe. When I rec'd the 8.75, I decided to give it a go. Worked out well, I'd say.

Client was making one last trip to her homeland, as her husband's health is declining. Really needed this pair for this past Monday.

As far as Cr39 goes, i carefully and individually ream out each of the bushing holes. The bushings must be BLS-40s...aka the softer material, and they must slide in and out of the holes easily...no tension if you want to reduce cracking. I also reduce clamping tension to the temples as much as possible by removing the "bow". Also, heat the bushings over a frame warmer to soften them before using the clamping plier.

Really, anyone here can do this. It's not rocket science. All the tips you need (and an ME1200!) are above. Good luck!

    B

    originally was targeting 10 base, which I don't think is available in a 10 base 7 x 28.
