I have a tat on my shoulder, it's small and only shows when I'm in a tank top or bathing suit (which doesn't happen often! )
Problem is, it looks like a 1st grader inked it....but it's mine and I love it. Paid a whole 5 bucks for it in college! Oh, yeah...I definitely got what I paid for! LOL! My dream is to go to a "real" tattoo studio to get it enhanced and make it look like something I would be proud to show off!

I like tattoos, I'm iffy on body part piercings, though...not sure why...just not my thing, I guess.

While I myself do not have any tats, and I am not sure I would hire anyone with visable tats for my location, I do always wear two different earings, paint my toe and finger nails different colors. So, having a little creativity is good. If you can keep them covered (male or female) that would work for me. That being said, at the other location that I am looking at, a tattooed Optician might be better than a non-tattooed person. Tattooed or not, if you can do the job and work with people on a professional level, I say have a little fun.

Well, personally speaking....if an employer has a problem with a tatoo of my sons' birthdays, both of who have passed, then I really don't really want to work with them either (so it's mutual!) I understand their thought process and I am okay with it, but there are bigger things in the world to worry about then a little ink.

A man went to an eye specialist to get his eyes tested and asked, "Doctor, will I be able to read after wearing glasses?"
"Yes, of course," said the doctor, "why not!"
"Oh! How nice it would be," said the patient with joy, "I have been illiterate for so long."

I may get a tatoo of a PD stick on my index finger, and maybe another on my thumb for seg hts!

I could whip my finger out of my pocket, in the shape of a gun, and measure pds and segs all in one svelte motion!

    Giddy up!

I love that one..................however you might run into professional problems, because when you get older and the skin starts to slacken your measurments might be off a few mm.

Around here they tend to fret over the small stuff while ignoring elephants in the room. There is a no-tatt showing rule though many employees have them. I have two both of which are easily covered by sleeve and pant leg. On the chance that my sleeve is a bit short that day and my forearm shows someone may get a glimpse of my art. I have never had a negative comment and usually get a positive one since I work in an area where many bikers live.

Would I hire someone with visible tatts? It would depend whether or not they would be working out front or in the lab, the area and clientle and the placement and nature of the tattoos. In my opinion you can ink yourself up all you want but keep it to places that can be hidden if need be. When someone inks their neck, face or hands...I wonder what they were thinking?

How about a centerline tat? Especially for those who can't keep their heads still for 15 seconds...

And to all you boys with long arms, now you know how it feels to be a woman who isn't fat everywhere. Not everyone has the top to match a fat butt, just saying.
That actually sounds awesome! My next 2, one is an old Zyl style frame from on one forearm, and the other is an eye peeking through a zipper keeping a "Look out" for me. Hard to explain, but I'll post pictures in the group "Tattooed And Employeed". When yours is done I'd love to see the outcome.

I doubt that many people would be offended by a tasteful or discreet tattoo. Of course, if you're sporting a prison teardrop or that thing around Mike Tyson's eye, then you probably aren't applying for certain jobs, anyway.

Likewise, if your "ink" portrays stuff like voluptuous naked women, motorcycle gang logos, racist icons, or similar, potentially offensive imagery, you're better off keeping it hidden, if you don't have the sense to have it removed.

    Best regards,
    Darryl

Agreed, Tattoos that are "Offensive" in nature shouldn't been seen, but then again there are idiots that will put them for all the world to see. Mine are about passions in life and my next 2 are optical influenced, so we'll see how it goes

Love the Idea..... I might do that, ..... but then again I don't want to stick my hands all up in someones face or nose for that fact, lol

Nope. And I've got my wedding anniversary on one of mine. My husband has my name and wedding date on his arms. Kinda funny story, I get a phone call from him while he's in France, and he wants to know our wedding date and 'where I would want him to get a tattoo if he was going to'. He was just a wee bit drunk. I know here it's very common for people to be drunk when they get a tattoo, but the tattoo parlor in France was serving beer to the patrons while they were getting work done.

I want at least 3 more, which would crack you all up if you were to see me, because my cardigans are my best friends, and I typically look like the LLBean catalogue threw me up. I was voted class prep back in 8th grade. Other than the eyeglass/butterfly one, I also want one with my children's names, and something on my foot, but that one is to be determined.

I cannot tell what that tat is either! I thought I was the only one. Kind of looks like a cemetery??

I do have a tattoo that I regret. I was 19, and decided I had to have one. My friend took me to a minister ( of all people) and he did this out of his house. It took me forever to decide what I wanted. I decided on a joker looking creature on my hip. Needless to say, 19 years later, I cannot wait to get a cover up tat.

On the plus side, I have my childrens names on my back, I have 3 flowers on my foot, that represent my b-day, my mothers and girls' b-day, and my grandmothers' b-day.

They are all hidden to the public eye, except when I wear sandals, which is seldom, for we have the a/c cranked in summer. I am on the fence with a lot of ink showing. It definitely is a distraction. And I myself, tend to stare with full sleeves, neck, and face tats. But to each their own, and that is something that they have to live with.

Nope, All mine are thought of extensivly and throughly in placement and meaning. So every line has a meaning, and all placements are not just random

I do not have a tatoo. I have many friends who do. I just never saw the point in them. Plus.....I am waaaaaay to frugal to waste my beer money on ink!

If I ever hit it big like Johns, optical24/7, and OBX..............I may drop the coin and get this on my back!
