Although I didn't go to VEW; I heard that...

This company has a (superfocus) style product, that requires no Custom Rx fabrication, and has a user-adjustible RX rane of -6.00 to +3.00.

    And it's cheap!

They sold 100K pairs to the japanese after the tsunami.

    Discussion.

I stopped by their booth, and personally tried one pair. I do not think normal spectacled people will use these glasses, as glasses are more for aesthetic statement nowadays, vision correction is just the basic. Their glasses present no aesthetics, also inconvenient to adjust.

People's RX does not change constantly.

Yes, but they'd be great in an EMERGEN "C". I intent to carry some to loan out for CL/eye infection and lost eyewear situations.

I stopped by their booth and sounds like they might be coming up with more styles as well.

Barry, even though I have no comment or knowledge of this product, I must tell you, I almost skipped reading this thread because I thought you wrote in parenthesis (superfluous) instead of (superfocus).

As much as I know about superfocus could probably go on a postage stamp, however, a little anecdotal story concerning them. In November, after hip replacement surgery, I was at a rehab facility when I came across an old patient of ours. He brought up he had seem in National Geographic they said that in Africa they were almost giving out glasses that fit superfocus description for almost free. At that time, the optical company for which I work had just installed the Empower, which we ended up sending back for many reasons at a high cost to us. The dichotmy was striking. To be fair, the Empower is supposed to be a step ot two up from the Superfocus. Like what was mentioned previously in this thread, by you and others, I feel it would be good in a niche variety, for emergencies etc... or in 3rd world nations. I apologize if I am way off base on this, I normally don't comment about things I am not aware, but since you asked...lol

Well, Superfocus is really not overpriced for what you get. I think Superfocus and adlens are two different products. Both are based on technology similar to what Dr. Silver pioneered for indigenous peoples (Nat'l Geo).

I don't have anything intelligent to say about it, but it sounds very interesting, especially for the price, and I'll be interested to see what develops.

Our booth was next to Adlens. They advertised their John Lennon collection. One of their reps told me the technology is in its infancy and you can expect more shapes. I can tell you it appeared they had quite a bit of traffic in their booth.
