Suggestion for block pads for hydrophobic lenses on a wet edger

    Happy Wednesday Everyone,

If you have a suggestion I would love to know what you use for your block pads for hydrophobic lenses on a wet edger. I am having some slippage issues and would like to know what works for you. I am currently using secure edge plus and having an issue with poly and trivex.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

    Kelly

    Hi Kelly and fellow Optiboarders,
1st of all allow me to disclose that I am a representative with Santinelli.
2nd let me introduce you to a brand new 3M product we are distributing which has proven to be very successful in the handling of slippery Super Hydro A/R.
    Check it out: http://www.santinelli.com/products/3...blocking-pads/
My clients have reported high level satisfaction, especially with the fact that it is an easy all in one application procedure.

Note: that leap tape being "sticky" doesn't always mean it is doing it's job adhering to the lens surface - as the oleophobic properties of the A/R tend to trump "sticky" as these coatings are designed to do their job repelling ven the stickiest tape just like they do for smudges, fingerprints etc... Which is why "riki-pads" have been the lens finishing standard basically changing the adhesive surface to a "low surface energy" allowing for better adhesion to A/R coated lens. Tip: Remember to seal up edges really well as water is the enemy of adhesives so take your time with preparation being key - Also Santinelli "Pliable Blocks" allow the block to mold to lens curve vs. pulling away from surface. Hope this helps and take care everyone.

It is important to use a high-quality AR leap blocking pad. A high-quality AR leap pad will protect the lens from that unwanted lens slippage.

3m 1712NR. They have worked consistently well for me for quite a while. No slipping. And most of what I edge are the slippery hydrophics. If I have a steep lens, I might use the extra anti-slip discs, but rarely.

Thank you so much everyone! With all of the suggestions for the Salem TAK pads I went and ordered some of those along with some 3m leap pads that they suggested. I will keep you all posted and thanks for your time and support!
