New NON OD/MD Optical Shop Business Plan help

Hello all,

This is my first post here on the forum.

I am going through the process of writing a business plan for an optical dispensary without an OD or MD.

I'm looking for any help or advice.

Do you reccomend an in house lab from opening day? If so, what would be your reccomendation for an edger/tracer for an optician that doesn't have a lot of lab experience? If also so, powers and materials on uncut stock should I have on hand? Do you have any stock lens suppliers you'd reccomend? Do you also reccomend certain labs for PALS?

How many frames should I have on hand for approx 600 square feet of space?

I am just scratching the surface, but I need all the help I can get.

There will be more questions to come.

If you don't have any experience and you want to start optical business, then i 'll suggest you don't start it. Becuase it is very sensitive issue you can not experiments with patients.
But you can start business with collaboration of senior.

Business plan is finished. Just looking at real estate now. I have 10+ years experience in optical and opening new stores.

I would just put in a small finishing lab, get my semi finished blanks from a good lab and the wrest is history.

Does anyone have an optical lab business plan I can modify for my own practice? I am located in Virginia. I am VA State Licensed and ABO-C. I currently teach opticianry for an accredited school, and have specialized in optical fabrication for 10 years.
