    Question Longest daily commute

So what's the longest daily commute out there for you guys? Me, I live in White Marsh and work in downtown DC. Takes 1 1/2 hours in good traffic, in evening rush hour traffic it can take as much as 3 hours.

We have one fellow here who comes in from West Virginia for a 3 1/2 hour drive, but he only does that once a week.

Just wondering who all out there is crazy enough to have long drives every day. (And yes, I realize that most of the reps probably "win" on this one.)

Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.

On April 28th, I'll be marrying my best friend. I can't wait!

    12 minutes, 15 with traffic!

There is not an optician job in the world that I would drive as far as you do for!

I live in San Clemente, CA and commute to Pasadena for work. On good days its an hour and 45 minutes, but on bad days I might as well pitch a tent and camp out!

But it's about to get extended to about 20mins a day. That's as far as I'm going.

Hmmm, from here to NoVA is about 200 mi one way, here to Richmond, about 100 mi each way. Here to SW VA (Big Stone Gap) is 487 mi each way.
But, when I had my shop in NoVA, door-to-door was 6 mi but took 40 min.

I'm sometimes not even sure I commute, as my wife says I live at the office. Actually is 5.5 miles for me, 7 minutes off season, 20-30 minutes in season.

Mine's about 100 feet. The longest part of it is waiting for the light to change so I can cross. Not always that great though... boss knows where to find me.

I'm 12 miles out. It takes 20 minutes when school is out and about 35 when it's in.

This is very funny, I just had an interview today for another optical. This one would be for a private practice. I am in a chain now. My commute now is about 15 miles. It would double if I take on the new location. I have been dwelling on the pros and cons all day. My current position is part time. I wanted to go full time, and today they offered me full time here too! What are the chances?

I walk to work (except this time of year) and it is 1 mile door to door. Used to have a 14 mile RT that took 45 min to work and 1 hr home. Don't miss it at all.

Nice. About the same for me- I roll out of bed and I'm there (the building at two o'clock).

I'm not close to anything. 1 hour is good one way. Lecturing...that's another ballgame. From Georgia to California/Oregon/Washington or beyond. :)

I have two. One is a half hour North of my house and the other is a half hour South. It's only difficult when I have a half shift at each place in the same day.

I drive through 3 counties and one pass everyday and have for over 15 years, takes about an hour or so each way, however for me I love it. I see almost everyday Elk, Deer, Bald eagles and other critters. On the way to work I have that hour to "plan" the day, and the hour or so going home I can unwind or decompress so I don't take it out on the wife and dogs. Like I said works for me.

Agreed, except when your husband is out to sea, your mother refuses to pick up your kids from daycare, and you get charged $5/minute if you are late! Then the long ride home is a pit in your stomach and a race against the clock! Lots of praying there will be no accidents or construction. But it's good in the morning, when you can jam out to some good music (or audio book, or news....).

Agreed! I pick up my son from school, and then we have the hour commute together. Just me, him, and all of his buddies he's texting!
