    RXable Motorcycle Glasses

    Hi

Can anyone suggest a supplier of good rxable Motorcycle glasses, I want to be able to supply ones that have the padding inside for protection. I know there are companies out there, i've worked with them before but I can not for the life of me remember the name, I've trawled online but can't seem to get anywhere.

    Thanks :)

Try WileyX - check out their online catalog. I've used them quite a bit. Yes - they do sell planos directly to the public, but the Rxs have to go through an ophthalmic retailer.

Liberty has a few biker frames with padding. I used to sell a lot of them, wish to God we carried something like that where I am now. Motorcycle hot spot around here and nary a frame for them.

+1 to both Wiley X and Liberty. Liberty's magnetic inserts are much more attractive than Wiley's snap-in foam pieces, IMHO.

Hilco Bling. Suitable for all RX's. Just had one leave with a -10.00 in a Vantage.

+1 for Wiley X. Wiley X also signed a license agreement with Harley-Davidson which they will be manufacturing Harley-Davidson Performance Eyewear.

Do you do your own wrap edging? I've found it much easier to add the edging fee to this type of job and send it out to a lab that has a cutter blade designed to edge wrap lenses. Especially one with any kind of moderate to strong minus.

All of the Switch Rx jobs we've done have been met with rave patient reviews. Liberty Sport in general has some really great frames with magnetic eye cups to help with wind. I've dispensed several of these with much success.

It's difficult to find a lab able to consistently cut these types of jobs well. I'm going to have to get my Horizon 2 working because I don't want to depend on others to get a good result.

I know that Liberty does its own edging, but do we always want to give high minuses heavy wrapped frames? Just saying

No we do not. However often times the wide temple masks the thickness. It's a judgement call.

I'll give a shout out to Luzerne and US Optical on these.

+1 on Liberty. I've sold at least 10 pair in last few months, and they are really nice for both motorcylists and boaters. The magnet clip ins are really decent quality for the price. While most of the frames are very masculine or at least unisex, there is at least one just sized for smaller women.

Many of the frames are not heavy wrap, but 6 base frames that can easily handle high minus lenses.

For a high minus on a heavy wrap, there's no better option than Ice Tech.

I have seen some 8base high wrap jobs from Ice Tech and I was blown away. I took a tour of their lab about a year ago and saw some truly innovative things.
