We were talking about him last night at the Women's meeting.
I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions, and performing at a party for him not too long ago in Wilmington. He was a deliightful gentleman, and a part of my youth I will never forget. RIP, Andy!
I never got to meet him, but I believe that he was a very good man. RIP, Andy.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Any of you old enough to remember "What it was, was football?"
Or I can't remember the name of the movie but Andy did a completely serious and excellent performance (most of his other work was commedic) as an adviser to politicians. I remeber he had interviews over a cracker barrel and sold vita-chex as fictionary sponsor. Think the movie was in black and white.
I also remember "Onionhead".

He lived just down the beach from me on Roanoke Island. Here is link to the local story.

Daddy had the record, does that count?
Was it "Face in the Crowd"? Because he really showed his dark side in that one. He terrified me in that, and I liked the guy! He was quite a talent. The book _The Andy Griffith Show_ by Richard Kelly tells the whole story of how he sat in on writers' meetings and tactfully influenced them to give the show authenticity. Fascinating read.
RIP Andy
