After reading a fair amount on line and talking to a few optometrists I decided to get Seiko Surmount lenses. My current lenses are Costco Essilor Ovation 1.67 high index. In those same readings and conversations I also heard a distinct preference for the Crizal Sapphire AR coating. My local optometrist has it on his lenses and says the Crizal coating are the most scratch resistant.
Very few people seem to have any experience with the Seiko/Pentax Surpass ECP coating; those that had some experience had a preference for the Crizal coatings
Essilor seems to make their Crizal coatings available on other brands, but it isn't clear if they make them available on all the Seiko lenses and none of the optometrists I've spoken with have sent non-Essilor lenses for an Essilor coating.
Can the Seiko be coated with Crizal Sapphire and how is it done?
I'll show my optometrist (who isn't on this forum) the results of this post.
Thanks,
David
