I have a lady who came in with delightfully weird pair of frames. One temple only but they seemed to fit her very well. They were starting to crack so she wanted to know if we could somehow make her a new pair. Off the top I couldn't think of anyone but she said she was going to the states and would have them made there. She got them made at a place called Spectech in Santa Monica and they were shipped to her. They look exactly like her previous pair (which were discarded or lost) however they don't fit her at all. As you'd expect, they're heavier on the temple side so they wont balance on her face. I was able to determine that by attaching a 1.00 coin to the side without the temple counterbalances the frame nicely so what I'm thinking of doing is having the one lens surfaced in a heavier material or surfaced thicker to achieve the same effect. Can you think of any other ideas? Here's a pic of the frame.

My first thought would be to use glass in one eye and cr39 in the other, since at least the abbe would match....

Exactly. There's also a light green tint in there too just to make things a little more interesting. :)

If temple weight is the only problem go somewhere that sells fishing supplies. They sell small weights to ballance lures. Dig a counterset and ballence the light one to the heavier one.

Bend the remaining temple straight down and have her use them as opera glasses.

Thought of that too. My last resort would be cutting into the frame.

so I'm assuming one side of the frame sits too high, can't you just adjust one temple down do raise the lower side?

Really, I never heard of someone with one temple so much heavier that you couldn't just bend one temple down to raise the other side!

Or a model railroad store -- they sell small rectangular weights to weigh down model cars to achieve proper balance.

Yeah, that's pretty much the weirdest thing I've ever heard of.
