Cool and Fun Tint Colors ?

Is anyone making cool and fun tint colors? Such as Tangerine, Aqua, Lime, etc.

If so, is there a chart on how to mix standard colors and the ratio's to get some fun ones?

What fun colors are you using? If there are no charts, what are your formulas?

    1) I can make any colors you want, either in my patented "MicroTints" (60 seconds to do it) or in regular dye pot ones. I also have a sophisticated CECIL spectrometer to check and copy exact absorbtion curves. For details you can see all of it on my website at http://optochemicals.com. The regular dye pot colors you can also get through Amcon Labs.

    2) Opthalmology Times published a chart I designed to mix standard colors, you can also find it directly on my website at: http://optochemicals.com/tinting_colorguide.htm

    3) Can not help you here, love my own blue blocking color, and there is a chart as stated above.

No extra real investment should be needed if you're already tinting with the basic colors. You don't have to buy all new dye pots for an occasional fun color. You just need to have the basic colors, blue,, yellow, pink...You don't actually need to mix the dyes themselves, it's more the sequence of colors added to the lenses on top of each other.

Like for tangerine. tint your lenses in the yellow for a bit, then drop them in the rose (pink) briefly. That oughta do it.
Lime, again, I'm thinking drop clear lenses in yellow for a bit, then in the blue very briefly.
Aqua, start with blue for a while, then at the end drop into yellow very very briefly. too long will go green.

    others:
purple- mostly blue, then add a touch of rose at the end
green-blue mostly, then yellow on top
amber-mostly brown, then maybe a touch of rose & a very slight touch of yellow

    that's it! have fun!

I personally stick to the tried and true: Blue on top, pink on bottom.

Very nice explanation that shows that you know all about it and have done your learning and practise. However some busy places do not want to bother with doing it the slow way and prefer to have ready made mixes, heat, dip and thats it at always the same color. Thats why the dye guy's have so many colors.

I've actually tried it your way too. I had to either buy a larger unit (expensive) or I was constantly having to switch out the dye pots for the color I needed. Messy with all the unit oil & time consuming.

I still prefer my way. It usually means 98% in one color & a few seconds in the enhancer color at the end.

I found that the the tints were truer that way. For Example: Green (to me) looks as good if not better when done by 95 % blue with a few seconds of yellow on top at the end).

But rinse lenses well in between colors. The only color you have to be really protective of is usually yellow.

Gosh, brings back memories! My pop had me doing all the tinting & all the restrings at 10 or 12ish. Tinting is fun!

Oh & sharpstick, my favorite was a tri-tint. I think I did like a green/lime on top third, peach middle to a rose maybe. fun fun
