    Wave Good books

Anybody reading any good fiction books?

I'm on a Lisa Gardner tangent...easy reading murder mysteries. Ready for something new.

    Thanks

Good books are those you learn something from.
Other books can be good but not good books.

Anything written by James Lee Burke. No one does 'Nawlins like he does.

I know it may seem a bit Juvenile, but honestly and truly I would recommend "The Hunger Games" series if you have not done so already. The movie was great, but the book was absolutely enthralling. Lots of action, suspense, and surprise. Plus, it really does make you think about things.

Knock it if you want, but I really don't think they are just for teens.

I definitely don't think the series is juvenile. I loved the Hunger Games and some of the themes are very adult in nature. The political undertone is just one of a few reasons this book is exciting for adults. I had to read them one after another!

I find that I learn something from EVERY book I read. For Lisa Gardner I learn alot about how to be a good homocide detective, or a serial killer

The all the ladies in my office are all reading (including my OD) it so I read the first and the second book. Not what I would call "good". It's more like the equivalent of eating a candy bar. It's made for some hysterical conversations during our down time between patients. When my husband found out what I was reading he looked frightened! Hahahah!

When I want something more substantial I reach for historical fiction, like Edith Wharton.

Oh please, I'm not ashamed, I loved all three books, and owned them all even before everyone was even talking about them. I'm discovering, I either prefer easy summer reads, or biographies and non-fiction. Some of my favorite books over the years have been "The Winds of War" and "War and Remberance", "The Pillars of the Earth", and "World Without End", "I Know This Much is True", and "The Source". I am almost done with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" trilogy. I just can't seem to finish it.

I just finished the second book and I have to say I'm a little winded! I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking "Again?" and skipping the steamy bits in favor of the story. Haha!

I haven't told my mom, she would be totally disgusted. Both my parents put great emphasis on good literature as I was growing up- my dad is an editor for a magazine and my mom is a library media specialist. When I read something light and fluffy I always feel like I'm sneaking cookies.

My mother is a minister. If she knew half the stuff I read she would be laying hands on me and praying for my soul. And I have never thought "Again?" from anything in any of the fifty books.

    Aspiring to be a Senator?

I too really enjoyed "War and Remembrance" and the Pillars series.

I'm stealing this recent quote I saw the other day-
E readers have the books I know I want to read, but a bookstore has books I didn't know I wanted to read.

I have been wanting to read those, and requested them at my library....still no phone call. :-( Guess I'll go check in on it today.

My favorite book of all time, which I may read again soon, is The Great Gatsby!! I love that book. My absolute favorite film director, Baz Luhrmann, is in the process of re-making it into a movie to open this Christmas and I am so excited to see it. I just hope it turns out as good as the previews make it seem. Knowing him though, it should.

This is non-fiction but if you haven't already read "Sh!t My Dad Says", read it now. It is nothing like the terrible TV show they made of it. I read it in one sitting and laughed my head off through the whole thing.

A few books I've read that I really enjoyed are Same Kind of Different As Me & What Difference Do It Make (Yes that's the title ). Also House Rules by Jodi Picoult.
