So they fired you because you missed work when you were sick? That seems so unbelievable to me that I wonder if there is more to the story. Because if they did that it's a horrible thing to do and I hope the new hire turns out to be a huge dud!

I was fired once because my spouse left our company. We worked there together for 6 years and she found a better job.
The got upset and canned me because of it. We actually found out later from one of the docs that didn't agree with the descision.
PA is a will to work state, no sure about FL.
Post yourself in the jobs forum, it may be seen there by employers more so than here. Good Luck!
If you lived in Tx I could probably get a job for you very soon, but unfortunately I don't know anything in the Ft. Myers area. The closest would be in Miami, so if you're looking to move...maybe.
Otherwise, I'm very sorry to hear about that. I will keep my ears and eyes open for anything.

THATS JUST IT! I feel better then every. I was on Linsiopol for 3 years. Once the dr uped my Rx my kidneys tanked. They took me off it and I have been off it for a week now and I feel like I could run a mile. but the problem was they hired my replacement when I was still in the host.
I've been reading the fine print in the employee's manual which is as large and heavy as the Oxford Dictionary. It seems that if you are out on any kind of medical leave for more than NINE consecutive days, you are automatically dismissed. What if you have a C-Section or chemo or heart by-pass surgery or any number of things that take longer than nine consecutive days to recover from...bye-bye. And you can't use PTO to extend your medical leave.
Is that at ur company?
