    From Spectera to OptumHealth

Spectera changed its name to OptumHealth. Did anything else change besides the name? Is it worth to take it now?

The customer service is the pits. Their answer for EVERYTHING is to call the lab, call the lab, call the lab. They cannot answer any questions we have had yet, probably because they cannot understand us and vice versa.

It's not worth it to take it. Here are the reasons: low dispensing fees, long turnaround time for glasses, and poor customer service.

Nothing has changed but the name. The worst customer service of all the optical plans, for both the optical store and the patients who are getting the glasses. Their bad service and quality makes you look bad. They take way too long, and sometimes they lose things. Reimbursement is horrible. Other than that, they're fine.

They are the worst of the many plans out there (yes, even Davis is better). Run (don't walk) away!!
I won't beat this to death, but everything the previous posters have mentioned is so true.

A doc that refers to us takes this and has been calling once a week asking us when we will too, so he can quit sending his pts to a chain retailer. I called Optum yesterday to get info to consider, and decided we will keep on taking no insurance. The communication barrier was massive, and then the reimbursement schedule was terrifying. That doc would have to refer far more people than he sees a week for this plan to make sense for us.

We just dumped them. 3 week turn-around for specs put us in a bad light. Most recently the frames chosen by our pat's. were not in stock or on B/O through Optum's acquisition channels, so we ended up sending them our frames. Very little reimbursement for the effort made on our part. Good riddance!

Did I mention the three week turn-around making US look bad! ;-)

Ah yes...you've just stumbled onto the ONLY way to make money on OpDumbhealth. You MUST find frames they CAN'T get, (FezzJohns or FezzJohns) and send them in. Finally...you can make money.

If you don't handle these plans just right...you'll get burned.

Aha! But when you send them the frames, when and how do you get paid for them??? I found that you had to submit FRAMES invoice prices again and again - and eventually you might get paid. Bad plan. Too much effort for too little pay back.

If you take Spect-hell-a just plan on seeing a Dr. for the stress... make your appointment now while you can still afford it.
