I have a patient who has also received an artificial retina from a Chicago group. I will look up more info at the office.

according to my patient, his latest V/A is 20/60 "BUT" , he came in with his blind leader dog. He can clearly distinguish objects such as where I am, but cannot obtain eye contact .To achieve the V/A he has now compared to no light recognition is remarkable.
This trial , while successful is no longer available due to not being profitable. Evidently no insurance or Medicare covers this and it's too expensive to continue a money losing operation. Shame !
