  • Computer Lens Question from an old fogey

Just started new job and am now back at an Independent's office (thank Heavens!) who does a LOT of VSP. What are some of the VSP choices for someone with a fairly common RX (+1.25 -.75/+1.50 sph with 2.00 add OU?) i CAN'T BELIEVE i HAVE FORGOTTEN SO MUCH!

Try their new Unity CVx brand Computer Lens. It's part of their Private label offering and just launched at VEE. I traditionally have used Sharmir Office and loved it. So far the pair of their CVx I'm wearing is excellent and also 100% digital. I bet if you call their lab they will even let you try a pair. My rep offered me several free fits at Vision Expo

We use a lot of Definity for VSP with great success because it's in the same price category with normally much less expensive PAL's. It's also very easy for patients to adapt. Poly is a good recommendation as well as transitions. AR for hyperopes is not as necessary as for myopes IMHO, but those are your standard choices for every VSP patient. Don't forget to offer either sunglasses at 30 % discount if ordered same day or Chemistrie clip.

I would say that about 75% of what we di is Definity on VSP.

We have started doing more of there Unity line with pretty good results. You make more money using those on VSP aswell. The Unity Plx is category F and is "entry level" freeform available in all material options. The PLX Extra is a fully custom lens that takes POW measurements. The PLX Extreme is for High wraps. All are rumored to be based off Shamir designs (take that how you want). While you may not be able to make the area wider you can choose to have more of it with these lenses.

VSP lab confirmed the CVx computer lens is based on the Auto II office.
