90% of everything is crap...except for crap, because crap is 100% crap
I don't know much about the eating scene in Philly.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, Philly has an awesome beer scene! I like to send folks to McGillian's Olde Ale House, Monks Cafe, Eulogy Belgian Tavern, and Standard Tap.
If you need armed protection while in the city and visiting these place, I am available!
Check out chowhound.com. There are lots of good places in Maniayunk (?), the downtown historical area, and Chestnut Hill. There's a great Tapas place -- Northern Liberties, I think.
For a Philly Cheese Steak, try Sonny's. About 3 blocks from the Liberty Bell toward the ferry to NJ. Recommended to us by one of the security guards at the bell. Said it was closer and just as good as the two biggies (Geno's & Pat's). Oh yes, it was good! Had lunch there two days in a row. If they could keep them hot, I'd mail order them.
BTW avoid the duck ride unless you like screaming kids.
Drive to Atlantic City Borgata. You can play there and the Buffet is amaizing!
The wife and I had good luck at: Old City Pizza. They're at 100 North 3rd Street, north side - just a stone's throw from Ben Franklin's final bed.
Reading Terminal Market, especiall DiNic's. Great sandwiches.

Only the tourists eat at Pat's or Gino's........best Italian food is Mama Yolanda's.....
The Terminal is a good bet and so is South Street......

So many things to do and places to eat in Philly. Lived an hour from there for years. Skipped school to hit South street a number of times. Are you staying in Philly or a suburb of?
