I never had the opportunity to meet Mark, I've heard many of you speak very highly of him. I always enjoyed seeing his craftsmanship on OB. His contributions to the optical community will remain forever. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Mark.

This breaks my heart to hear this sad news. He was an OB regular whose posts I really enjoyed. Praying for peace and comfort for his family.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I am sorry for Mark's passing, and the grief his family must endure. Fezz and Johns, I am also sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Marks contributions were amazing.

Thanks and farewell, DragonlensmanWV. As steel sharpens steel Mark, you left us a better community because of your input and knowledge. You will be missed.

I spoke with Johns this evening, and we were able to share our sadness for Marks passing. I mentioned to him that I think I still have a pic on my work computer of all of us from un-expo 1. I will try to get to the office tomorrow, and if I can find it, I will post it so all may see Mark as he was.

    :(

Never had the pleasure of interacting with, or meeting him.

    Completely saddened, none the less.

I read many, an insightful, tutorial, and educational comment over the years...

My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

    :(

I can't tell you all how sad I was to read the first post in this thread. We had a lot in common. We were both diagnosed at about the same time, I kept sending him encouragement by PM similar to what my friends were sending me. My heart goes out to his family and his extended family here at Optiboard. We will miss him but were blessed to have him while he was here.

    sorry for your loss

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the last Un-expo and got to meet him and his wife. Super nice guy! It is amazing the memories that our brain stores. I can picture us all sitting at the gazebo in the back of that hotel sharing a beer or two. I was a complete stranger to him and his wife yet you would think I was an old friend the way he greeted me. We also had quite a good time in the lobby of that hotel. We rearranged the furniture and made our own living room and just shared each others company. No real agenda, just a few like minded optical people coming together because we wanted to. It is one of the highlights of my optical journey. I'm glad I was able to share a moment in time with him and his wife. I can't imagine the loss she feels. RIP my friend. I'll see you on the other side on day.

I will add this. If your fighting with a loved one call them and apologize. Life is short! Mark was a big man with a soft heart. Let his example and light shine through.
    Properly medicated for your protection.

I'll sure miss him. I never got a chance met him, but it was on my list. Having exchanged pm's, posts, and phone conversations, he was a great guy. He was the kind of fellow that I hoped I could be like. I'm going to miss geeking out over computer games and sci fi with him, and I'll miss his knowledge of the optical field - he's helped me out more than once.

Love is a duet, each voice complementing each other and making them sound better than they would alone, each voice at times stepping back and letting the other shine. We've got a pretty good duet going Tina.

On April 28th, I'll be marrying my best friend. I can't wait!

I do the same thing, Harry! Anytime I see an old frame, I think about him bringing the box of frames and goodies to unexpo and giving them to us as prizes! I have the frame I "won," it's one of those that you can heat up and put it in a bottle, then it expands back to original size/shape. I haven't put it in a bottle yet, though...I need to do that!
