    Gunnar Who owns them?

Did not the Great Essilor buy Gunnar a few years back? I just called my Essilor lab and they didn't know what I was talking about. Any one know?

I don't think they do... I think Gunnar is based in California and still owned by the two people who started the business.

Yes, part of Zeiss. However, I do not recall seeing them at VEE. Zeiss reps used to staff their booth.

Zeiss actually had a small display of the Gunner frame at the show but nobody was really talking about it.

I put Gunnar in to two of my locations (one next to a Gamestop), and they are selling well. (Saw them at VEE)

I am under no illusions as to what I am paying for, and what the patient is paying for. The ONLY reason I put them in is because of all the marketing they have done. The frames are allright, the lenses are unspectacular, and the tint is nothing you can't do in the back room.

We have a lot of (non)parents that bring their kids in for exams because they are rubbing their eyes a lot after sitting for 10 days in front of the video screen. They feel guilty that the kids may be ruining their eyes, and when the doctor finds no Rx, their guilt can be soothed by dishing out $95 for a pair of (almost) plano glasses that you normally couldn't pay a teen to wear.

Even the rep admitted that their is really nothing special about the tint, frame, or coatings. The display is nice and attracts a lot of attention.

I call them the "Wizard of Oz" glasses. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...

Zeiss does not own Gunnar. They just use some of our lenses.

    Best regards,
