Essilor signs two new partnership agreements in China Positions also strengthened in the USA

Charenton-le-Pont, France (April 1, 2012, 6:30 a.m.) – Essilor is pursuing its development in China and the USAwith the signing of two new partnership agreements that represent approximately €22 million in additional revenue.

Essilor has acquired a majority interest in Jiangsu Youli Optics Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses in Danyang that generates around €15 million in revenue a year. Youli Optics (formerly Governor Optical Co. Ltd.) has nearly 1,000 employees and operates three plants that produce lenses for the domestic market and for export.

The Company has also acquired a majority stake in another lens manufacturer, Jiangsu Seeworld Optical Co. Ltd., which has nearly €7 million in annual revenue and over 300 employees.

In the USA the company has acquired physical control of the Vision Council for a yet undisclosed amount, which will give the company more control of public encounters and promotion also by influencing VEE and VEW to the companies position.

It also intends to purchase all optical forums, especially OptiBoard in order to ban all counter productive member posters of ABE club and others. The company will staff and develop these forums to fully support on-line optical sellers.

Chris, Where did you get this press release? Who published it? I thought the Vision Council merged with Optical Labs of America, and I don't know how Essilor could gain control when there are so many indepent labs as part of OLA. Is the press release from a reliable source? Did an authorized Essilor representative actually put into a press release that Essilor is out to buy OptiBoard?
