I have issues with my coburn 506.it tears off smoothing pad within 15 seconds.I was told the problem is alignment between the lap table and poker arm.Can someone help me with ideas.I do not mind having a copy of user manual for the coburn 506.

Is the cylinder machine converted to the otley wobble assembly? Sounds like its one or a combination of the following, incorrect orbit, or pattern not centered. If the problem is that the polish pad keeps "sliding" off the lap, then you'd have to check the pad, or lap. (or in my experience slurry flow/temp also would need to be checked). If the pad is being ripped off the lap and shredded, then i'm also assuming the lens/lens block/wax is also being shredded....in that case check the orbit, and pattern centering.

The pad is being shredded.sometimes it breaks and cracks the lens.The rate of deblocking has also increased.
How can I restore the Orbit/ pattern centering?

In order to check the pattern/orbit, you need the calibration blocks. The block looks like 2 steel rectangular slabs, one about half as thick as the other with a groove down the center.
Checking Axis: Turn the machine on and stop it when the left rocker arm is far left. Place the thick block flat side up on the lap table. Place the thin block on top and lower the block pins. Rotate the gear in the cabinet to rotate the table manually until the pins lock into the goove, and rotate the blocks until the longer sides are flushed with each other. (may need to square them off, rocker arm should be centered) if the blocks cannot be squared flush, then you must calibrate the pins before calibrating the orbit. Checking Orbit/Centering: Remove the smaller block, and place some grease atop the bottom block. Lower the pins, and drop pressure to 10psi. Let run for a minute or so. The pattern that's traced in the grease should be centered on the block, and the length and width of the pattern should also be within whatever parameters required by your company. If it is not centered, you need to move the arm either back or forth, if its not horizontally centered you need to adjust the d lateral pins that move the arms (located under the hood).
also, what type of lens? and is the lap itself coming off the lap table? If it is, then you need to check the lap plate, the center fitting notch (circle), or the pressure......... watch it while it run as see where its hitting.
Does the rocker arm (on the upper assembly) still swing freely? Were it to be seized up, you'd have the problems you're describing.

@dragon walker,the lap tool does not come of the table.
I just discovered that the both belts at the rear were not properly connected.But before discovering it,I have tampered with the orbit centering.The shredding of pad is reduced but manifests on steep curves and cylinders.
