You may also want to look at the ME 900 when it is released. Ask Don Rosene about delivery

It was announced on Facebook 2 - 3 months ago. It's supposedly an abbreviated ME 1200. It also is not on Santinelli's site, only Nidek's.

It is not the same machine nor are the results.

Ok, I dont get it, whats the difference outside of the shelf bevel and volumetric circumfrence measure. How is that worth the extra $30G's?

    Well, having had both:

    1. The Me 1200 is faster
    2. More precise
    3. More accurate
    4. Possesses internal memory to record/save individual job set up. (in the future, there's talk about adding memory retouch - this would be priceless for those difficult to prep jobs.)
    5. It's a far more robust chassis.

Its not 30k neither. Its about negligible amount per month more over 5 years. Don't be a skin flint.

It was offered to me, I have the brochure on it, main difference is it does not have the 8bc wheel and does not do step bevel. It is about 10k less than the 1200 I have a price on it and is already available. send me your email and I can attach the pdf for you, it will not let me upload a pdf to attach here.

No Hi-curve/antisplay wheel? Might as well get a Savage (Now who here on OB remembers that baby? - 45 second CR-39 cycle time- including roughing and beveling!)

You need to own the term antisplay wheel! It is the most accurate term to describe what it does on all zyl frames.

Idea How do you mount a 4 base lens in a fixed 6 base frame?

We have a Maybach frame where the end pieces are not moveable and our RX is a -8.50. We are going to use a 4 base lens and make the temples look perfect and come straight back and not to fit a pumpkin head.

We did it on our new machine and will post pictures on Monday.

This machine is awesome. I wonder if any old times could do that by hand!

We are very happy with the results and the patient should be thrilled. We will ship them off today to him.

Excuse my ignorance Craig, but exactly what did your ME do that a SmartDrill couldn't on the above Rx?

I guess anything is possible; I do not have a smartdrill. Try one and let us know how it goes.

Yeah, we have a smart drill too and it does jobs like those (temple piece or nasal piece inseting into the lens). I thought the new technology would polish the milled area or leave it more smoothly finished.
I would be more interested in seeing the Oakley interchangable lenses like the half jacket and flak jacket (out of the frame and then in the frame of course).

My blocker memorizes drilling locations. Overlay, mark-up and drill. Don't get me wrong Santinelli drills are awesome, I just couldn't justify the extra 11k for it (even though I do an average of 3 a day!)

How about ease of use? I find the ME series touchscreen emminently easier and faster to navigate/program jobs than the non-touch screen models.

    Craig,
We have an ME 1000 (about 3 years old) I am interested in the ME 1200. Did you have the ME 1000 before? I am curios to know the differences other than the shelf bevel feature. We run several different drill mounts (ie. Lindberg, Airlock, Kaw, Sillhoutte, ect) We also do the chemistrie sun lens. Can I get your feedback? I am new to this website and trying to figure out how everything works. (price difference between the two?) I haven't called Santinelli yet to discuss this. Also, on a side note.... did Rick Nookester set up your machine? He was pretty awesome when he came to our store.

    Thanks,
    Stephanie

I read back to the beginning of this thread and saw the price on your ME 1200 (not much different than our ME1000 with the tracer) Also I decided to attach our pig for the BBQ :)
