Is this your profile? As a company, I can't like you, there is no LIKE button - did you set yourself up as an individual or a company?

Just what does "Like" ing someone on the net accomplish for any individual or company. Does someone get paid by the number of "Likes" or what?
I understand that on TIVO's and the like it enables the company to keep track of admired or detested programs, but what difference does it make on posts or individuals?

Chip, by "liking" someone you get automatic updates about their posts and updates. By liking relevant businesses and individuals, I end up reading lots of interesting articles and finding out about new products that I otherwise may not have ever seen.
It is also a great way for me to keep my "likers" updated with what is happening with our company and get a dialogue going. It is all a part of the social media craze that is happening right now and there are lots of big players that have jumped on the bandwagon already. I love following Transitions Optical amongst others - they are very active and informative!
