    signet lenses

    Dear All

can anyone help me answering these questions:

1- Is Kodak Unique just a variable corridor progressive depending only on PD & seg heights measurements( frame parameters) & not a true FF progressive?
2-How Unique is a customized FF lens & it don't take into consideration the POW especially the VD , tilt & panoramic angle?

If it doesn't take the vertex then teh design is not optimized to suit the wearers field of view, if they don't take the tilt and panto then the prescription nor the design are optimized for a tilted refracting plane. So it is potentially optimized for the script provided, to ensure that the design is delivered as intended. I say potentially because tommorow they could decide to take all these additional measurements with zero change and our clues as to the level of optimization are gone.

I saw a map a while back with two of the same exact prescriptions and frame combinations produced in the Unique and neither map looked alike and the differences between the two were definately outside of ANSI in many areas of the lens. I don't know which particular lab they came out of but the consistency in production was not there, so while it may be called free form, digital, or whichever flavor that's currently being offered, I definately wouldn't call it optimized.

Sounds like they may have been made with Crossbows software.

i would like to ask the question in a different way,
To what degree do the frame parameters & POW affects the customization of a progressive FF lens? what affects more the customization?" the frame Boxing & situation of the OC & the Seg height measurment" or "the POW"?
