    slippage... ideas, help!

    Hello,

I am have some slippage issues when cutting poly with AR on my Santinelli 9000. I am using the AR slip pads on the lens before I use the block pad. I am using secure edge for AR pads. I have even called my machine vendor and checked the pressure and it is at 120 for poly and they suggested I not go any higher or I could cause crazing. They think I need different block pads.

Any suggestions? Any block pad suggestions? At this point I use our other machine for poly AR lenses and I need to find a fix as this is slowing me down!

Thank you in advance for your help!

Try cribbing the lens down. Just take a round demo lens and cut it to that shape. Then cut it to the correct shape.

I usually have a difficult time with ones that have large amounts of decentration and I do this and it works like a charm.

How old is your roughing wheel. If it is dull, it usually starts to show its age by causing slippage on poly A/R lenses.

Blue Jumper Apply slick coat yourself.............................after cutting

............another solution, get your AR lenses without the slick coat, cut your lenses the normal way, and apply the slip coat yourself after cutting. You will also save a ton of money.

Are you using the orange Tak pads ? That virtually eliminated our slippage issues.

Musta bought your machine used (?) 'cuz when I asked a Santinelli rep about this same issue a couple of years ago he had only ONE suggestion - buy another $25-30,000 machine! Really, that's the best you can come up with? Yes. Have a safe trip home.

And if it is used, pay close attention to all posts that suggest sharpening the wheels since you don't know when that was last done - unless you did it yourself.
