Although its always possible, it seems unlikely, since Safilo refinanced their debt they are on more solid footing. If it happened, it would have happened last year when Saflilo was in trouble and VSP could have just purchased their debt fairly cheaply. It would have given them tremendous leverage to negotiate a capital stake.
I see VSP buying more frame lines, but I guess if they do it will be smaller ones they can fold into their existing infastructure. But VSP's focus has been to expand their lab business and the existing frame business lately, buying Safilo would dilute that considerably.
SAFILO

HAL Holding N.V. is an international investment company based in Curaçao. All shares of HAL Holding are held by HAL Trust and form the Trust's entire assets. HAL Trust's shares are quoted on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange (Ticker symbol: HAL NA).
Ya, the rep rumor rolled me over too... (sometimes they're right though!) And Marchon frame line definitely needs help, its been moving in the wrong direction for a while now. (IMHO)
No way. VSP may have the dollars, but the messiness of buying a global company? Don't see it.
Safilo's new Nine West is GOR. GEOUS. An instant top seller in my practice.

Sorry, not Safilo's. Marchon's Nine West. Used to be Safilo, now Marchon.

Yes! Which means that the guy in the factory in China has to put the Marchon demo lenses in, and change the heat press to the Marchon logo.
Really....there's no difference. They're all coming from the same place. The main thing that buyers should be concerned with is whether or not the rep is going to spring for the cream filled donuts, or the cheap glazed ones. In the end, THAT's really what you're paying for.
