Totally awesome!
What about final assembly and inspection?
But can they still park and use the restrooms?
Only if they still getting paid!
Nice stuff but IMO Staisloh is engineered to a price point whereas other companies like Schnieder engineer to a quality and durability standard thus up time and issues are way better. Ironic given who owns them though so go figure.....
Goodbye lab rats of the world!
Something tells me the process isn't quite as easy on a day-today basis. I'll bet there are daily disruptions in the line.
Too bad the system isn't automated to the extent you can toss a hockey puck-sized piece of plastic in and have it come out as an edged lens.
Wow! Big has taken them to a new level.
Just a few comments about the process:
The AR will match?
Answer: Yes, If you buy your AR front side coated lens blank from?
Answer: A company owned by the Satis Loh parent I assume.
Don't order a tinted lens and expect for it to be processed on this line.
Yes they don't have as many lab rats, but they now need highly paid and skilled engineers on staff to keep the equipment up and running.
Very scary..............................
Just about full automatization to replace learned optical lab technicians whichhas been a craft and profession forever. In Europethey are called Instrument Opticians and go also through optical schooling.
As an optical retailer you have to realize thatyou and your regular suppliers are getting more and more squeezed into a corner, which is getting closer by the minute.
With full automatization of Rx lenses on one sideand heavily discounting retails sales of on-line optical's on the other side, the B&M retailer will have to adjust even more, and faster as Rx lens prices will soon drop big time for normal dayto day prescription lenses.
During this hard time economy the consumer haslearned and is still learning to shop for price and that does not exclude B&Mopticians which are still based on an age old markup system instead of workingon professional fees.
If you have not thought about this...................better start. The big corporations don't care about you, they have covered themselvesby playing both sides.
