Irony has improved my life in that ...

Inspired by several recent brilliant posts, I offer the axiom that (if you enjoy irony) you will never lack entertainment. I'll not weigh in at present, except to point out that the current political scene abounds with lots of completely humorous malaprops, reversals, uber-obvious panderings, and deliberate failures to see the Big Picture. But politics are small pototoes (get the joke?) compared to retail optical. What is your favorite sacred ox? Gore away.

Well, I must say, you've got a better seat at the circus than most of us do:

For different reasons, I often wish I were in Oakland also.

Yup, the circus is in full swing. The serious participants in the Occupy movement, the ones who see the serious message, have gone back to their jobs. Both sides decry the mess these other people are making, but both sides use them as catspaws. Both sides try to convince you there are only two sides; nuance isn't possible in this adversarial atmosphere.

I don't mean this to apply only to politics. Politician or patient, they resort to risable, Janus-like behavior, and think no one notices. Perhaps they don't themselves. I find this laughable, an object of fun. If there are also grave aspects to all this, it's still wryly funny.

To the person who very kindly gave me a greenie for "making no sense":
Thank you for agreeing that a decent brain and common sense just don't mean what they used to.
