And here is where the union dues go:

    http://www.opticalworkers.com/

Yep, they hire an airplane to go up on a cloudy day with a banner. That should solve everything! Of course, this highly effective advertising was targeting a different issue, but it's interesting to see what happens when the union pulls out "all their resources" to fight evil!

In the Davis case, it looks like the workers voted 87-3, or thereabouts, to strike. It ought to be interesting to see how that goes.

In my area, the closest thing to optical unions were the guild members.

This is why I am asking. I started in this field in 1990 and met only one person who was in the union long long long time ago!

I never even knew there was an "optical union". I did work for an optical corp that was unionized but they are Teamsters.

One of my first "lab" jobs was unionized......can't remember the name of the union, it may have been a "food worker's" union. This was back in my "Jurassic" time of life,

Was in a union back in the 80's. It was considered a "store bought union". Owners wanted less HR responsibilities so the union took care of health care... Got our .25 an hour raises annually and of course paid dues. Waste of our money as union members for sure, they did nothing for us. Many worked to get in management to get out if it.

That's odd, I am local to your local (Philly suburbs) and I have never been approached to join.

    Am I being discriminated against?
