Out with Coach, in with _________?

Coach always did well for us as a "name" brand. Now that they're off to Lux, we are in need of a ladies' line with comparable name cachet, and in a similar price range (retailing $250-300).

I know a lot of OptiBoarders have been letting Coach trickle away as well. What are you guys filling that space with?

FezzJohns will be introducing a new line in March. It looks VERY much like Coach (the resemblance IS remarkable!). The line has the same model names, styles, and colors, but the big change we made is the price. Instead of $XXXX, we will be charging $x.

We've had a consulting team working on a new name, but they couldn't come up with one we liked. Last night, while we were interviewing for additions to the FezzJohns bikini team, Fezz had a brainstorm, and came up with this name:

D' Iscontin Uedcoach (kind of sounds French, doesn't it?)

We'll have more details in March!

The problem with replacing Coach as that the majority of people were buying the Coach name, and not the frame style (just like their purses).

Soo true. I can't tell you how many people ask if the purse on the display is also for sale. I do "get" the name brand thing about some things but to honest, not with their frames, very plain and unremarkable. Just my opinion.

Or, stand in line with the lemmings, wait for Lux to jack the price on THEIR Coach, buy the few pieces you can afford to display, and wait patiently for them to sell.
Oh yes, I do, make no mistake. We are doing all we can to move our remaining pieces, and gladly. :)

Yes! Of course you will...but you're missing the point! You will do ALL YOU CAN DO (discount??) to move your REMAINING pieces. Here's what has happened:

You paid $XXX, you marked it up to $XXXX. It didn't sell. Now, you'll mark it down to $XXX?...$XX?...You've gained (probably) nothing, but you've tied up a bunch of your money in the meantime.

Now, look at how my friends like OBX and Now I See will do it: The will buy the Coach (for the first time) for $x, sell it for $XXX, maybe a bit less, and they'll sell more than most other offices will, because they'll have the best price in town.

They have less money tied up, they won't have to buy a minimum amount, and they'll make more profit. It's like waiting for a movie to come out on video, instead of paying to see it in a theatre. You have to wait a bit, but it's worth it.

    So true.

But, if you are looking for lines that have similar styling to what Coach used to offer, I would check out Michael Kors and Diane Von Furstenberg. While every brand has it's own DNA, the designers from Coach went to those two frames lines. I know that I personally have seen similar styling and fitting features to what Coach had. Pricing is about the same and Michael Kors especially is a very sought after brand.

    Really?

I have been in the business for twenty seven years and never once has anybody ever asked for Micheal Kors (or Michael Jordan, Michael Eisner, or Michael Corleone)!

How about Michael Mouse? (Sure, his cousin Mickey moves the kids' lines, but not Michael)

I have replaced Coach with Fendi and so far I'm pleased with the results to date.

Fendi is a bit higher-end than Coach, and Kate Spade lower. We have a hard time selling frames at the Fendi price point. We already sell a lot of Kate Spades.

We're going to go with Vera Wang. Bringing them in in a couple months.

We have replaced Coach with Diane Von Furstenberg and have been very pleased. Alot of the DVF frames have the same style as Coach but with new patterns. The price point is about the same or a little less than Coach. On the plus for us our same Marchon Rep carries the DVF line.
