    UPC bar code warning....

I was talking with my Tura rep about the cool feature the iphone has that all you need to do is take a picture of the book and poof you have all the information about the book and different online stores with instant pricing.

We started talking about frames and wondered about the old UPC label we have used as inventory tags. Well I found an old airlock bag with the bar code and poof. The description and 6 online stores listing it for sale for $$, and the normal retail is $$$.

We may want to think about using unique bar code labels instead of the manuf. numbers. This could present a problem as this technology grows....

    Take Care....

No Bar codes are used now by us. Why begin?

BTW, I'll sell *any* FRAME ONLY for a Keystone (2x). No service bundle, no adjustments.

Apples to apples. This way helps make it clear that a service bundle, included with the normal frame price, has value.

Sounds like a good reason to use your own system-generated codes.

I would recommend any independent optical to start putting this into your medium range plans. At least those that run a tight inventory control system and utilize bar codes to do so.

Left bar codes behind long ago. Even the bike shop next door refuses to use bar codes for this very reason!

John, no prices on the frames? how does that work?

Wow, so interesting that this conversation came up today! I spent all of yesterday ripping the barcodes off off my tags after the Maui rep came in the other day and showed us that fancy lil app. MY OD was horrified when he demonstrated the scanner.

I can see great benifits of this for your customers. Why would you not want what is best for your customers?
