Maybe they see all of the posts on here by eager test takers fretting over test results and how long it takes to get them. They may be upgrading whatever method they use to speed things up?

I am not a member of the ABO/NCLE Board, nor do I speak for them, but it is my understanding that they are developing an online version that can be taken any time with immediate results. I do not know if, or when this will actually take place, but do know it is very expensive. It will be a true benefit if it is anything more than a rumor, and the fee is in-line with other similar agencies that use technology-mediated exams. Why is is up this much this early, I cannot say.
