Are you one of the "53% who pay" federal taxes?

Do you buy into republican argument that 47% do not pay federal taxes?

Here's an article that may change your mind-

On my way to work this morning, I saw a bumper sticker which read "Work Harder, the Bums on Welfare Need the Money". I think that this shows how effectively the "divide and conquer" strategy works. We, citizens of Twenty-First Century America, are the most enabled of all people in history to resist this canard: BUT WE DON'T WANT TO!

When we go the way of the Nazca culture, we will have deserved it.

I guess they no longer believe in the adage, "United We Stand, Divided We Fall."

A CEO, a blue collar worker, and a welfare recipient are sitting at a table. On the table is a plate with 10 cookies on it. The CEO reaches out and snarfs 8 of the cookies. Then he says to the blue collar worker "Hey, watch out for that welfare guy. He's got his eye on one of your cookies."

Very well said. Anecdotal evidence, like cliches, is often true.

Let me get this straight....I paid taxes(very few deduction)I pay consumption taxes(gas clothes, sales taxes etc) so I know I'm in the 47% that "pays"taxes...Now let's compare the rest....People who don't pay taxes are people get all of their paid income taxes back and then some(and let me say I have a friend who really get alot more back then she put in). they complain about their comsumption taxes. Tough for them. you use it you have to pay. I personally want to pay for my miltary, roads, etc that are necessary to make my country safe. I don't want to pay for anything else. I'm tired of the arguement they pay too much. They don't. They use the system. They need to pay for what they use. Anyone. Whether it be welfare, miltary, grants from the government for school, firemen, roads etc. I think this is where the arguement comes from. Our tax system wasn't made to pay for everyone to have "need"it was set up to make sure our country was safe and that we safe roads etc. When we started to spend in the wrong way, that's when our taxing became a problem.

I know that I am a minority here but sometimes things just need to be said

Well, it is possible under certain economic conditions to get more back than you paid. The biggest contributor to this is the Earned Income Tax Credit. Note that it was passed in 1975 under Republican President Gerald Ford.
