    Progressive computer lenses

Has anyone worked with the Essilor computer lens? Would anyone have any suggestions on any other computer progressives?

I'm partial to the TACT from Hoya. They have two versions. One has 40% of the ADD at the top, the other has 60%. When ordering on DVI, you put it in the little note area on the lower left of the screen, as either EP40 or EP60.

I've dispensed a few CompuClear, which is the Vision Source name of Essilor's computer lens, and haven't received any negative feedback. The lens I used previously, also with great results, was the Sola Access. I'd say 90% of those patients were really happy with their computer glasses. You just have to watch your lab and make sure they don't over-convert the Rx.

The Shamir Office, both conventional and FreeForm are very good. The FreeForm has two versions, one "static" and one "dynamic." The static one is the standard for people just sitting at their computer. The dynamic has a small distance area at the very top for people who move around in their cube/office more.

Seiko has recently released their Free Form computer lens, the PCWide as well.

Have used the Tact, Essilor computer and Shamir Office. Had much more success with Shamir than any others, hands down.

I've had good luck with Sola's Acess. And you can tweak them to use for normal progs, with the right Rx range.

I have tried the Sola Access and Rodenstock Office. Both were great.

You did! The concept is superior to office type PALs, although the execution is outdated. Even Chip would use a FT28 instead of the Frank, and I'd use a PAL all day long.

I've used the IOT Office Reader a couple of times. People seem to like it.

Still like the Sola Access, haven't ventured far yet, been thinking bout the Shamir lens lately, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I find them great second pair for progressive wearers that sit at a computer all day, also great for musicians that need a range of vision.

I was speaking to a woman yesterday who said the Access lenses I fit her with some eight years ago were her favorite ones. Since then, she has been fit with some other things with poor results. She just re-found me, so I hope she buys some new ones.

Although not a PC lens design the Var. Ellipse in it smallest form (Leave 10mm for dist and fit to a tight 14 seg) works great for pc and all around wear in my experience

Redhot Jumper Gone back to SV for computer............................

..............For somebody that sits 10 hours in front of the computer per day, the simplest solution:

I have a 100 cm screen at 80cm distance......set the zoom level at 150% and can now exist with a SV + 3.25, superb clear screen and read the smallest letters at 25cm. Full view without any PAL or bifocal of which I have plenty of them. As I am aphacic this Rx system will do me forever.
